The Indus Academy has its roots in the Playschool, a nursery school started in August 1989 by Mrs Masooma Anvarali, Mrs Tayyaba Siddiqui and Mrs Kamila Mazari. All three started teaching careers separately in different nurseries and schools before they set up their own nursery school.   The Playschool started operating in August 1989 with only 4 students. Within a month the student body had increased to 20 and then to 45 in the following year. The Playschool rapidly acquired a good reputation of being a small, private pre-school with confident and happy children who were easily able to gain admission into the larger prestigious schools in Karachi for further education.   By 1997 the Playschool had moved to an independent school building in the Clifton area. Here the student strength was 75 with 8 teachers in addition to the three original partners. With the success of this nursery school operation as well as the dearth of good schools in Karachi offering quality education, a need was felt to further expand the school.   To these ends the administration and faculty at The Indus Academy are focused on providing a stimulating atmosphere, using up-to-date methodology and materials as well as keeping abreast with all new developments in the field of education worldwide.   Teacher's professional development is our priority. Teachers regularly receive training both in-house and at workshops held at recognised institutes. Additionally consultants are invited to conduct training courses at the school from time to time. In particular the faculty of the senior classes at The Indus Academy consists of highly qualified professionals who also have the requisites experience in preparing students for the O'level examination.
